Print and complete the appropriate portion of this Recommendation Form (pdf), give it to your references, and ask them to submit it with their letter of recommendation.

Ph.D. Applicants:

All applicants to the Ph.D. program must have earned a Bachelor's degree at an accredited institution, and completed a minimum of 12 credits of coursework in Psychology. Individuals meeting these prerequisites are invited to apply as follows:

Complete your on line application by December 15th by clicking one of the links above. You may request a hard copy application at redulic@duq.edu. Completed hard copy application requires the submission of a non-refundable $50.00 application fee. The application fee is waived for on-line applicants.

The following items should be mailed by January 15th to:

Two copies of an official academic transcript issued by the registrar of each institution you have attended.

GRE/TOEFL Scores: only the general test scores are required. GRE scores must be recieved by January 15th. TOEFL scores are required of all international students.

Three letters of recommendation from faculty members who know your work should be submitted with forms mentioned above. If unable to obtain three you may submit recommendations from employers, volunteer sites, etc.

A curriculum vitae which list schools attended, degrees working toward or awarded, names of recommenders, volunteer work, awards, etc.

Write a personal essay in response to the following:

Trace the development of your thinking with respect to psychology as a human science. Emphasize the authors and theories that have had the most impact on your conception of psychology. Discuss how you see the relationship between psychology and cultural diversity.


Submit an academic writing sample.

Applications are due by December 15th. This means the on-line or paper application must be received in the Department office by December 15th. All supporting documents must be received by January 15th. Application files incomplete after January 15th are not reviewed by the committee. It is the responsibility of applicants to verify that their files are fully complete by the deadline dates specified.
